「ＡはＢの２倍大きい」など「○倍なになに」と表現したいことは少なくないと思います。

　「○倍」には　times を使いますが、２通りの方法があります。

１．○times + 比較級 + than
２．○times + as + 原型 + as

例文で見てみましょう。

◆１の方法では、

The manufacturing cost in China are five times lower than (that in) Taiwan.

中国の製造原価は台湾の５倍低い

◆２の方法では、

The manufacturing cost in China are five times as low as (that in) Taiwan.

that in の部分は無くても構いませんが、より正確に表現する場合は必要です。

この場合、the manufacturing cost in China と　the manufacturing cost in Taiwan を較べています。 the manufacturing cost　を２度繰り返すのではなく、that で受けているのです。
